Our First Home

Our first home was a foreclosure and a total mess.  We went to see the house to find crayon drawings all over the walls, doors and fireplace.  There were holes in walls and bad termite damage in the master bedroom.  I was ready to quickly leave when Brian persuaded me to look closer and see the good layout and potential it had. While I had a hard time seeing past the dirty, dated house Brian convinced me that it would be a good investment.  He was right and we made a low ball offer. The bank countered at the asking price and we decided we would move on.  Two weeks later the bank called our relator and asked if we would resubmit our low offer. We did and they accepted!
Two months later I signed my life away and we prepared to redo the house. We hired someone to fix the dry wall in the master, take out a half wall in the kitchen, and paint all the woodwork with a fresh coat of white.  There was also a lovely mirrored wall in the dining room that we had removed (now I love all things mirrored but at the time it was as in style).  We also got all new carpets and had the parkay floor refinished. The rest we did ourselves. That included painting every single room in the house and wallpapering a bathroom.  We tore up the linoleum floor and Brian and a friend retiled the kitchen and laundry room.  We also tore out some cabinets and added shelves in a nook in the hallway.
It was a lot of work but we ended up loving our little house!

First Post

After following many blogs, I finally took the plunge and am creating one of my own!  We bought our second house this June and have been busy working on it.  I'll attempt to document all the progress!
